The Hallifordian - 2016-2017
11 we were feeling pretty tired after having three full days of skiing and snowboarding and a whole day of travel, so we went to the cinema to see the latest King Kong movie. Beardie Weirdie! On Friday, we were riding our favourite slopes, to master any jumps, tricks or turns and we were flying down the mountains, zipping in between the trees and gaining bigger air times on the jumps. That evening, we went to an ice hockey match to see the mighty Oil Kings play and we gave them full support, which only added to the atmosphere. Then we were left with one more day of skiing and snow- boarding, giving us our last chance to hit the slopes and say goodbye to Marmot Basin. As we rode down our last slope, I reflected on what a great trip I had had and how much I had improved from when we first arrived, remembering the hard falls but also the successful runs I had. The next morning we ate our last breakfast of bacon and maple syrup and began the long 19 hour journey home. What a great trip! Sam Walker, Year 10 What Halliford means to me Moving to Halliford was an entirely new experience in school life com- pared to where I’ve been before. Halliford is a community as well as a school, making me feel at home when I started, always looking out for not just my academics but also how I’ve settled in. I’m really grateful for the support not just from teachers but from others around me, as a place you can feel safe to express yourself and en- couraged to pursue your hobbies as well as your subjects. The Vibe and it’s biscuits in particular have helped me greatly concentrate during my study periods and again acts as a sort of community hub for the Sixth Form, it makes school a more relaxing place to come to rather than your conven- tional rush in, rush out canteen. Halliford to me is a perfect blend between a place of fun and a place of achievement. Charlotte Worrell, Year 12
