The Hallifordian - 2016-2017
51 After a short interval, the audience were treated to a selection of songs from many more films such as West Side Story and Footloose . The Year 7 and 8 choir performed a rousing rendition of Mrs Robinson from The Graduate . Their diligent prepa- rations led to a performance that was in perfect har- mony. We also saw an ensemble performance from the Halliford Singers with Come What May from Moulin Rouge . The GCSE Music students gained the oppor- tunity to show off their skills as they accompanied Rob Pleasance in Town Called Malice from Billy Elliot . The lower school also has a chance to dis- play their talent as the Year 7 Rock band performed three numbers. The first was Get It On from Billy Elliot where Will Greaves gave a very energetic vo- cal performance. Next they performed the Beatles hit A Hard Day’s Night from the famous Beatle’s movie of the same name. Their set concluded with a collaboration with the upper school students Harry Osborne and Ollie Hackland-Crowther performing Pretty Woman . The penultimate songs were undertaken by Tom Foley, Year 13. It was Tom’s last performance at Halliford School. He has been a major asset to the music department throughout his time at the school taking part in all musical events and blessing mem- bers of the school and parents with his wonderful voice. The night was concluded with an upbeat per- formance of Footloose by Harry Osborne and Ollie Hackland-Crowther which got all of the teachers, parents and even some of the students dancing. The audience demanded an encore for Tom Foley’s per- formance of Pencil Full of Lead which he gave with great spirit and emotion. An encore of Footloose ended the evening on a rousing note.
