The Hallifordian - 2016-2017
65 Sixth Form Leadership Course A leadership course? The trip started in the same fashion as all trips with a bus ride. This coach took us from the safety of Halliford through Woking and, after a brief period of being lost some- where in the South of Eng- land, we arrived at Ferny Croft campsite in the New Forest. After a tour of the ‘lavish’ facilities, our first activity was to put up our tents. This proved to be easier for some than it did for others, but after a rough hour of manual labour everyone managed to pitch their tents. Alas, that was only the start of an activity packed two days. On the first day we were split up into four groups. Post team splitting, we advanced to being introduced to our team leaders and then proceeded to do some team building exercises. This included trying to get through a small sized piece of rope as fast as a team possibly could, which resulted in a varying amount of odd techniques to complete the task, one being diving though the rope at near full speed. Following the completion of the team build- ing exercises, the teams were fully bonded. It was getting on for three o’clock in the afternoon when we started to prepare a barbecue with the question- able Tesco Value ‘pork’ sausages and ‘beef’ patties. Later, after the success of the barbecue, all four groups partook in an obstacle course, which George Childs, Kerush Ali, Luca Bertuzzi and Oliver Hackland-Crowther . Hanging around!
