Philanthropy is very much at the core of the Halliford School ethos. During the Autumn Term the ‘Street Bag’ project aimed to raise awareness of the homeless in our area. As leader of that enterprise I was delighted with how generous our students and parents were by donating supplies. In addition, our Sixth Formers continue to support Manor Mead on a voluntary basis every week. Manor Mead is a pri- mary school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties or an autistic spectrum disorder. The White Lodge Centre in Chertsey has also been a major focus for our fundraising this year. During the Spring Term our students and staff took part in a ‘Bleep Test’ competition raising over £10,000 for both the centre and Sport Relief. Fur- thermore, our new Deputy Head, Mr Duffield, un- derwent some rigorous training in order to run the London Marathon. The White Lodge Centre was, once again, the recipient of all his sponsorship mon- ey. We welcome our new Headmaster, Mr Davies, this September who I know is full of enthu- siasm and ideas to take our school forward. I’m sure there are exciting times ahead! As you read through the latest edition of our school magazine I hope you will be impressed by the sheer variety of activities we offer to our stu- dents. From skiing to singing, camping to comput- ing, there is something to appeal to all tastes at Hal- liford School. In fact, I’ve been inundated with so many interesting articles this year the biggest task has been what to leave out. What an embarrassment of riches! Anthony Cunningham
