The Hallifordian - 2016-2017

74 the heats I had made around 140 overtakes and this was only in 49 laps! On Sunday 16th it was the finals day and I would start 18th for the pre final, where you finish in the pre final it determines where you start for the main final. In the the pre final I managed to get myself up to 6th. In the main final I got myself up to the lead from lap 3 and held it to lap 15 where I was crowned World Karting Champion! During the week I had done around 200 overtakes in 78 laps which meant I was the first ever person to do this from last on the grid! Golf: Ethan Job, Year 13 On Wednesday 26th October, Ethan Job competed in one of 30 different Qualifying events at Reading Golf Club, after a very long, mentally draining round he signed for a 77 which claimed 3rd place, getting a spot in the Junior European Open to be played in Estepona, Spain. When in Spain the weather was horrendous with completing 14 holes only 3 over par to that stage in round 1 then due severe weather conditions play was being cancelled for the day. Following this disappointing round 1 being cancelled he played the next 3 consecutive days shooting 83, 78, 81. This lead to him missing the cut by 3 shots but he didn’t feel like he played to his full potential but was a very good learning experience for future events. Sports Report: Spring Term 2017 Football U12 It was a very successful season for year 7 football. Students approach this activity area with fantastic enthusiasm which saw us field A, B, C, D, and E teams on some occasions. All students repre- sented the school superbly and we saw many fan- tastic performances. The A and B teams maintained the most impressive records only losing a handful of games. Both sides were strong as a result of strength in depth, it was certainly a challenge picking the sides. A fluent passing game was maintained throughout the season with a fantastic work ethic being maintained in and out of possession. Key per- formers have included Eddie Clark and Josh Gavin in attack and Paul Louis-Howard has maintained stability in defence. U13 The U13 team enjoyed a largely successful season. The boys played some really nice football at times and were able to frustrate the opposition by keeping possession well and creating lots of chances as a result of making use of space. When defending they chased every 50:50 and were relentless in try- ing to win possession back. There were some nota- ble performers in the team and mention must go to Reese Day, the engine of the team, Alex Goderski who was a rock at the back, Ted Luckins who was consistently a stand out performer and James Ten- niswood who captained the side nicely. The B team were unlucky at times to lose some of their key play- ers to the A team, but always put on a good show with excellent numbers committed to training and fixtures. Overall it was a very enjoyable season. U14 The under 14 team have been on the wrong end of results throughout the season bar one game. With good performances from individuals there has been a real sense of injustice in many close fought games. The team have often dominated possession and gathered great momentum in many matches but have often lacked the quality and accuracy in front of goal. This has been frustrating for the players and parents alike yet the team has remained upbeat and
