79 Athletics This season there have been a number of op- portunities for our Athletes to compete. With Years 9 and 10 competing at the Glyn School event, the year 7s and 8s competing in the St Georges event and our strongest athletes taking part in district and county competitions. Spencer Bateman once again has impressed this term finishing 2nd in the 1500m heats at the Sur- rey event. Sadly due to a prior Triathlon commit- ment Spencer was unable to compete in the final. Year 10 Ed Dawson also competed at the Surrey competition having returned from a long term injury. Ed finished 7th in his heat with a close to PB time of 2:18. Basketball Oscar continued to play for Richmond Knights this season for the U16 and U18 category at National League leel. At the recent end of sea- son awards he received most improved player for the U18’s. He was recently selected to play for Surrey U16’s to play in the Inter County and International festival of basketball at the end of June. Surrey were winners of the tour- nament. Oscar has been part of the Regional Per- formance Centre over the winter months and has now been selected to train over the summer for the London regional squad, with the ultimate goal of playing in the National Basketball tournament in September.
