Next year we will aim to build on our success and by using some of the best advice ever given to me we will “ Do what you just did, but just do it better .” Greville House Report by Mr Howard, Head of House House Captain: Tom Fossett Music Captain: Ryan O’Shea Pert Public Speaking Captain: Oliver Lee Again, this Year’s Inter House rivalry was kicked off in the Autumn term by the Singing com- petition. Back to its more familiar format, the com- petition only required one house song as the Form competition was back. This year, the House entry was led by a trio of Sixth formers: Ryan O’Shea Pert, Ben Pegram and James Notton. Junior forms were keen to participate this year but the numbers from more senior groups was slightly disappointing and this affected our ability to generated the deep bass required in our song ‘Hold back the river’. With an enormous amount of commitment and numerous lunchtime practice sessions, under the watchful eye of Mr Williams, the House song finally began to evolve into the finished article. A big thank you to all the boys involved, in both the House song and Form entries, for the hours that you put into rehears- ing. Unfortunately, although there were strong per- formances in the both House and Form songs, it was not going to be our year again. At the end of the Inter house Rugby action that takes place during the closing weeks of long Autumn term, only 9G had managed to secure a first place in the Junior year groups. They were support- ed by two third places from 7G and 8G but unfortu- nately, these fine spirited performances did not earn us sufficient points to claim the overall Junior com- petition. In the Senior competition, a wonderful first place by 10G and a committed third position from the combined Year 11/Sixth form team resulted the championship being tied by all the Houses. Thank you to all those who took part in those bone crunch- ing tackles that helped the House acquit itself with pride. At lunchtime, throughout this and the spring term, a series called a Game of Hoops was played out. Early reports indicated Greville’s Senior, al- though giving it their all, were not the most accom- plished of Basketball players and this was reflected in their last position. In the intermediates, Greville were unbeaten winners and Oscar Leigh-Hales once again picked up the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. The Juniors gave some val- iant performance but with one loss, came second. Hopefully, we will continue to have success in this competition next year but thanks to all the Greville Ballers who gave up their time to assist with or swat the rock during those matches. Awind of change blew over Halliford school this year as the news of the Headmaster’s decision, to step down, filtered through the school. Greville’s dominance of the big two athletics events, Cross County and Sports day, coincides with Mr Wilson’s arrival and I have often considered him as our tal- isman. Would the announcement of his departure see a return to Greville’s olden days- always close but stumbling at the final hurdle? This year’s Inter House Cross Country competition saw strong per- formances from many of Greville’s year groups but
