The Hallifordian - 2016-2017

91 by Mr Greggor, Head of House Once again this year it has been a pleasure being head of Wadham House, students continue to embrace all opportunities provided to them and in- volve themselves in a range of house competitions and activities. I would like to thank my house captain Shi- vam Patel who has been a fantastic role model for the younger students in the house and also set the example for them by remaining at the heart of help- ing to organise teams for all house competitions. House singing The house singing competition is usually the first major house competition of the year. The format had changed from the previous year with only one song having to be performed. ‘What makes you beautiful’’ by One Direc- tion was selected this year for its energetic and lively sound. A great deal of thanks must go to staff and students involved in the house for their hard work and time devoted to producing a fantastic final song. Many lunch times, tutor periods and house assem- blies were dedicated to fine tuning our performance. The final performance was impressive and I felt a great sense of pride as the students gave an excellent account of themselves. Wadhamites from all year groups were rep- resented and in particular sixth form involvement was superb. After a fantastic performance, which resulted in some audience participation, clapping along as we sang, the final result saw us narrowly missing out to Russell House. All four houses pro- duced a very high standard of performance making the competition extremely competitive. Notable performances came from Lower Sixth Harry Osbourne who also took the lead in organising the harmonies for solo artists as well as singing two of his own, Charlie Poulter, Archie Evans, Matthew Turley, Thomas Wittke and James Woodgate also sang solos during the performance. A big thank you for all of their hard work and dedica- tion. House Christmas Lunch Aside from my terrible opening jokes to start my Christmas lunch speech this year a wonderful time was had by all. A big thank you must go to Alan and his catering staff for a fantastic spread, both myself and the Wadham students were ex- tremely grateful. After a lovely meal, merit and tutor prizes were handed out by ‘Santa and his helpers’, again thank you to our year 12 and 13 sixth formers for this. Santas Little Helpers! Wadham House Report
