The Hallifordian - 2016-2017

93 Junior table: Team Wins Draws Losses Points Diff 1 Russell 3 0 0 9 +20 2 Greville 2 0 1 7 +4 3 Desborough 1 0 2 5 -8 4 Wadham 0 0 3 3 -16 Changing format slightly this year, inter house basketball was played on Halliford’s out- door hard courts in a 3v3 format with three separate competitions, Junior, Intermediate and Senior. It is particularly satisfying to see Wadham were again able to secure two second places in both Senior and Intermediate competitions and although finishing fourth in the Juniors, the boys represented the House superbly maintaining admirable amounts of effort throughout all fixtures participated in. Inter House Cricket With what was yet another very entertaining year of inter house cricket, Wadham expected to do well as there is a lot of talent in the house. Games were played at lunch time on the school field with great support from other observing students around the boundary. I would like to thank all Wadham stu- dents who participated, all fixtures were successfully played and the House never struggled for numbers to field teams. The senior competition resulted in Wadham finishing joint first with Greville house and in the juniors finishing first overall! A fantastic achieve- ment, and wonderful to get a win after being very competitive in all house competitions this year but missing out on that elusive win until now. Public Speaking Seniors: Year Chair Person Speaker / Topic Vote of thanks 12/13 Matthew Alexander Gareth Hart – Idleness James Biggs 10/11 Calvin Wright Joe Flynn – Should vaccines become mandatory? Max Houlihan Senior inter house public speaking took place the week before the Easter Holidays. The above students volunteered and presented two very well put together speeches. Particular mention goes to year 12 who actually won their year group cat- egory. However with the scores from both speeches this saw Wadham pipped to first place. and rain which had fallen in previous weeks making the ground soft. This resulted in many students opt- ing for a stud or a spike to run in rather than trainers. As the table shows, Wadham placed second in four out of the five competitions, finishing sec- ond overall to Russell house. Once again there were some very pleasing individual performances Seb Omorojor again won his year group by a consider- able distance and Louis Sartori, having won in year 10 managed to convert this to the senior competition this year, claiming victory after a superb run. Wad- ham were once again very competitive and achieved mass participation with students willing to involve themselves in Games afternoons whether experi- enced footballers or not. This is the epitome of inter house sport involvement of all regardless of ability. As the table of results suggests, stand out performances came from years seven and nine, fin- ishing in second and first place in their competitions. Congratulations to all who participated and as al- ways your involvement is greatly appreciated!
